We're celebrating our First Anniversary of the Walnut Hill Rose Garden!

Join us on Wednesday June 15, 2011 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM to meet, mingle and see the Rose Garden in full bloom! With guided tours of the Garden and music by members of the CT Virtuosi & "Polonia Paderewski" Choir. Hors D'oeuvres with Wine & Beer Cash Bar; Business Casual Attire Requested. We are trying to build our volunteer group! Together we plan events, promote the project and organize fund raising efforts along with selecting of roses that we will be planting and crafting the overall design and feel of the garden at McCue Mortgage, One Liberty Square, New Britain, CT 06051

Past Events:

Opening Day at the Walnut Hill Rose Garden was April 9, 2011. We planted a few replacement roses and added a bunch of new plants to fill in some empty spaces in the Walnut Hill Rose Garden. Members of the community along with the Bloom Buddies helped make it happen. Photos from Planting Day 2011 are available here.

Our "Winterizing a Garden Workshop" was held on November 20, 2010 where volunteers got hands on training in how to prepare their gardens at home for the coming winter. We pruned, protected and cleaned up the rose garden beds with the help of the Bloom Buddies and University of Connecticut Master Gardeners and over 50 volunteers. See photos from the day here...

The Grand Opening & Dedication Ceremony of the Walnut Hill Rose Garden was Tuesday June 15, 2010 from 4-6 pm. We had over 300 guests come to celebrate with live music, food and an official dedication of the Rose Garden. See more here...

Planting Day was Saturday April 10, 2010 from 9 am to 12 noon at the World War I Memorial in Walnut Hill Park. We had over 217 volunteers and NB Parks & Recreation staff on hand to help put over 750 roses into the ground. Volunteers brought their own garden tools - pruning shears, trowels, shovels, rakes, gloves and knee pads. Refreshments were provided.
